I spent my career studying cancer from the outside – in cell cultures, data sets, and the clean logic of the lab. Then I became the patient, and learned what no degree had taught me: healing is both a scientific and a deeply human act. This is the story behind the work.
A Scientist Who Became The Patient

The Diagnosis That Changed Everything
For most of my life, I was a cancer biologist before I was anything else. I lived by data, by evidence, by the clean logic of cause and effect. My work sat at the intersection of cancer research and medical technology – the very systems I would later need to save my own life.
Then, with one short phone call, I became the patient.
Nothing in my training prepared me for how alone and overwhelmed I would feel inside the healthcare system – the same system I had spent a career studying and shaping from the outside. Despite all my knowledge, I still had to learn how to advocate for my health, make decisions under impossible uncertainty, and hold onto hope when the numbers were not in my favor.
My recovery was miraculous – the kind of outcome that forces a scientist to sit with questions she cannot fully answer. And everything I learned along the way, from the biology of healing to the profound power of complementary medicine and lifestyle factors, became the foundation of everything I now share.
I work with people navigating life-changing health transitions. I bring the rigor of a scientist, the empathy of a survivor, and the steady hand of someone who has already walked this road. Healing, I have come to believe, is never just chemistry. It is never just what you eat. And it is never just mindset. It is the careful, intentional weaving of all three.
From Laboratory to Life's Work
The path from bench science to bedside to the people I work with today.
The Lab
A Biologist by Training
Earned a PhD in Cancer Biology with a research focus on breast cancer. Years spent at the bench – in cell cultures, in vivo models, data sets, and the quiet patience that science demands.
The Business of Cancer
Consulting and Strategic Marketing
Forecasted the impact of technology on oncology to help cancer centers build their businesses and provide optimal care. Worked with medical device experts to position technology optimally in the cancer care continuum.
The Diagnosis
Becoming the Patient
A Stage IV cancer diagnosis rewrote the story entirely. The scientist became the experiment – learning what data and protocols cannot teach you about being afraid, being ill, and advocating.
The Recovery
A Healing Beyond the Protocol
Conventional medical therapy paired with complementary medicine and lifestyle modification. Recovery that reshaped how I understood what healing actually is.
The Work
Coaching, Consulting, Writing, Speaking
Today I consult and coach individuals through health transitions, speak to audiences navigating resilience and science, and am writing a forthcoming book on everything the journey taught me.

Three Principles That Guide the Work
i.
Science and Spirit
Evidence matters. So does the part of healing that evidence cannot yet measure. I hold both without apology and teach my clients to do the same.
ii.
You Are Not Your Diagnosis
A diagnosis is information. It is not an identity, a fate, or a verdict on your future. Part of the work is helping you remember that distinction – especially on the hard days.
iii.
Clarity Over Certainty
No one can promise you a specific outcome. But clarity – about your values, options, and next right step – is almost always available. That is where we focus.
When I'm Not Coaching
You’ll find me on a mountain somewhere – hiking and skiing have been a lifelong love and, after everything, a kind of therapy. There is a particular quiet you only get standing at the top of a mountain, and I’ve learned to treasure it. The wind, the trees, the single clear task of getting down in one piece. It resets me.
I read widely across oncology research, wellness, and complementary medicine. I meditate daily. I believe strongly in spending time in nature, nurturing friendships, and protecting time for the quiet that most of us forget we need.
If we work together, you’ll get all of it – the biologist, the survivor, the coach, and the person still learning, and putting one foot in front of the other every day on my healing journey.
